One could be fooled into thinking the Texas weather forecast for the next two days was for October or March, but alas – warm weather fans will be happy. If you’re in the mood for December weather, you’ll get your wish this weekend and early next week. We won’t be getting a lot of rain (or snow, sorry, snow fans) – but some opportunity for both will exist on Saturday for a few lucky folks.
Dense Fog Tonight into Friday Morning
The main weather issue this morning and more so Friday morning will be dense fog in the Edwards Plateau, Concho Valley, Hill Country, Central Texas, into the Brazos Valley, South-Central Texas, and the Coastal Plains. More localized patches of fog are possible in North Texas and Texas. Some of the fog late tonight into Friday morning will likely drop visibilities to near zero and take until lunchtime Friday to improve. Folks flying in or out of Austin or San Antonio tomorrow morning, take note.
Friday and Saturday
Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday morning in the Ark-La-Tex and Northeast Texas as a strong cold front begins to push into those regions. Snow flurries or an hour or two of light snow remains possible on Saturday in the Panhandle. There’s a low-end chance of a dusting of snow, but more impactful winter weather looks unlikely at this juncture.
As a strong cold front continues moving southeast late Saturday morning into Saturday afternoon, we may see a broken line of thunderstorms develop along it. Those scattered storms may impact the eastern Brazos Valley, Southeast Texas, East Texas, and the Golden Triangle. Precipitation chances and rain totals continue to look less impressive, so flooding isn’t likely to be an issue.
A few storms may become strong with small hail and gusty winds. Overall, the severe weather threat isn’t one I’m too concerned about for Texas. Like the last few events in November, the timing aspects look like they’ll be off again – limiting the threat of severe storms. That may not be true for our neighboring states further east and northeast.
Sunday and Monday
The chance for storms will end in Texas Saturday evening as they move east of Texas and off the Texas coast. Gusty northwest winds are likely behind Saturday’s cold front, and that front will make it through all of Texas by early Sunday morning. Temperatures behind the cold front on Saturday and Sunday will make it feel more December-like, with cooler conditions continuing through early next week.
Another storm system may bring a reinforcing shot of cooler air to Texas on Tuesday and Wednesday. Precipitation chances don’t look too impressive with that system , but the chance isn’t zero.

Since texas is ginormous, could you add to the top of your posts “this is mostly for east texas” or something? Maybe split it up into East, Central or west. We are all vastly different and it makes your posts confusing. Most of your posts are about East texas
