‘Twas the day before Christmas – Hot Texas Christmas Inbound!

‘Twas, the day before Christmas and all through the state, were folks in swimsuits and out on the lakes…

Many Texas towns will experience their warmest Christmas on record. After last February, it is nice to have warmer weather, but temperatures in the 80s on Christmas are pushing it. Wichita Falls just hit 90 degrees – a first in December. The previous record high temperature for December in ‘Da Falls was 88 degrees – set in 1954.

Given the warm weather and the similar weather that led up to December 26, 2015 – it is natural some folks are feeling anxious. The weather pattern this time around is far different. We do not expect severe thunderstorms, or even precipitation for that matter, on Christmas or in the days that follow.

Forecast high temperatures from Christmas Day through December 30th. Above-average temperatures will continue across Texas through the next week. A pattern change will bring cooler temperatures around the New Year and into the first week of January.

Forecast high temperatures from Christmas Day through December 30. Above-average temperatures will continue across Texas through the following week. A pattern change will bring cooler temperatures in about one week. I’m optimistic that we’ll also see some precipitation chances in conjunction with the upper-level pattern change. Until the pattern changes and we get a stronger cold front next week, we’ll remain in a spring-like temperature regime with little in the way of rain chances.
