This is the final day in a multi-day series of severe thunderstorms in Texas. The promised line of thunderstorms moved from west to east across the center column of Texas overnight. Those storms will continue to move east this morning while slowly weakening.
There appears to be a window of scattered severe thunderstorm potential this afternoon and into this evening across Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas. Generally, we expect this threat to be along and east of Interstate 45. Assuming this morning’s line of storms moves east of the regions mentioned above in time, new thunderstorms could develop by early to mid-afternoon. Some of these storms may become severe as they move to the east. The main threats are large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. However, some tornado risk may also develop with the most intense storms.
Activity could grow upscale into a slow-moving cluster that moves across East Texas and Southeast Texas this evening. Heavy rain is likely, possibly one to three inches of rain, across the eastern quarter of Texas with this afternoon and tonight’s round of storms. Flooding is a concern.
Thunderstorm chances will end Monday morning, and it looks like Monday could be a spectacular day across most of Texas. Sunny skies and a lack of severe storms tend to brighten the day. Our chances of getting a break from the rain will be brief. However, there is hope on the horizon. Tuesday through the end of the upcoming week look unsettled with shower and thunderstorm chances.
A cold front promises some relief from the oppressive humidity levels by the upcoming weekend. We’ll have to be mindful of some stronger storms. Now, no one day stands out for a significant severe weather threat over the upcoming week after today, thanks to a decrease in wind shear across Texas.

Very happy your home and friends are safe after last night’s storms in OK. Sending up prayers, especially for Sulphur OK.
Lamora Cole yes I was heartbroken to hear that Sulphur was destroyed. Some friends lost their business. Thankfully they all live out of Downtown. So they & their home are safe. 🙏🏻😪
Edgewood Texas getting hammered now.
It’s storming now more than all night in Mesquite
Jerryann McCay I’m in garland, is any tornadoes coming out way
Andrea Valdez I guess anything is possible, but I don’t see any warnings right now or any rotation on the weather apps close to you. And I think it’s mostly heavy rain and some small hail mixed in with thunder where I’m at.
Andrea Valdez it doesn’t seem too severe right now. But it sure seems to have been moving very slowly. You should be fine maybe see if the weather is on TV.
Jerryann McCay I think this page is the most up to date…it’s just moving so slow like hurry up already and pass lol
Andrea Valdez and yes Texas storm chasers did a great job being up to date and covering such a huge area.
