Texas Weather Roundup: Next Rainmaker Arrives Thursday

We’ll see active weather return to Texas later this week, but that doesn’t mean it will necessarily be of the high-impact variety. Fog this morning in South Texas will burn off by late morning. Sun today will give way to clouds tonight and for much of Tuesday across Texas. Measurable rain is not expected, though. You can view the full Texas Weather Roundup video at the bottom of the post.

Active weather begins Thursday

Five day rain forecast for Texas. The best chance for one-tenth to one inch of rainfall will be across Texoma, North Texas, Central Texas, Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas. That system should move east of Texas by Saturday morning.

Our next chance for rain will begin Wednesday night in Far West Texas, around El Paso in the Borderland. Those rain chances will be associated with an upper-level storm system. That system will move east across Texas on Thursday and Friday. We’ll see scattered showers make the march from west to east. The best chance for one-tenth to one inch of rainfall will be across Texoma, North Texas, Central Texas, Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas. That system should move east of Texas by Saturday morning.

Another upper-level storm system will arrive on Saturday, with another round of rain possible on Saturday and Sunday, especially across the eastern half of Texas. We’ll refine this weekend’s rain chances once we get closer and a better grasp on timing. We don’t expect widespread flooding, severe storms, or any winter mischief through Sunday (Christmas Eve). A first guess at Christmas Day would have shower chances in the eastern third of Texas, moving east of Texas by noon, with a cool front moving southeast. That’ll probably change five times before we get to the weekend.

Texas Temperature Forecast

Temperature-wise this week? Seasonable to warm, with temperatures ranging from the 50s to near 80 degrees. No significant arctic cold front will impact us for the next six to seven days, though the Christmas Day cold front could knock us down a bit. That’s still out in weather model voodoo land, though, so we’ll watch it.
