Temperature Roller Coaster Continues This Week!

A temperature roller coaster will continue this week as a couple cold fronts clash with a warmer airmass. I say clash loosely since the overall chance for measurable precipitation will be low over the next several days. High temperatures today will be warmest in the Rio Grande Valley with 80s while 60 sand 70s are expected in the Borderland, Permian Basin, South-Central Texas, east through the Brazos Valley and Southeast Texas. A cooler airmass, combined with cloud cover, will dominate the eastern Texas Panhandle, Northwest Texas, and North Texas today with lower 50s a good bet. Winds will certainly be less noticeable than those experienced on Sunday.

Seasonal temperatures are expected tonight with nothing unusual or drastic. They’ll range from the middle 20s in the northern Texas Panhandle up into the 60s along the coast and Deep South Texas. Fog is expected to develop overnight across the southeastern half of Texas. Some of that fog will be dense by sunrise Tuesday, so plan your drive accordingly.

A stronger cold front will start to push south on Wednesday. Temperatures north of the front will be considerably cooler with highs in the 30s and 40s in the Texas Panhandle east through North and Northeast Texas. Unlike last week’s front this one will stall out just south of Interstate 10. THe result is high temperatures won’t drop off with Thursday’s front in the Borderland or Rio Grande Valley. A significant warm up is expected on Friday as warm air advection occurs ahead of yet another strong cold front, which will arrive Friday Night into the day Saturday. Expect another big cooldown this weekend.

At this time no significant precipitation chances are in the five day forecast. Light showers or drizzle will be possible along and east of Interstate 35 Tuesday Night and Wednesday. Some light precipitation may accompany the late week cold front, but uncertainty remains high on both precipitation type and timing.
