Slight Chance for Showers Today Through Sunday – Warming Next Week

Good morning and happy Saturday everyone!  We begin warming up today across the western half of the state with clearing skies expected this afternoon which will allow temperatures begin to climb into the upper 60s to low 70s.  Clouds and chances for showers and sprinkles will linger across coastal, central and the eastern half of the state which will keep these regions a bit cooler through today.  Rain chances today will be light and spotty with the greatest chances across deep south Texas and the coastal plains.  Not expecting any severe weather, so really nothing to be concerned about.  Lows overnight will drop down into the 30s across the panhandle, 40s across much of north and western Texas with much milder upper 50s and low 60s along the coast as humidity levels begin to increase.

Highs tomorrow will increase a good 15 to 20 degrees with very pleasant readings in the 70s across a majority of the state. Warmest spots will be across deep south Texas which will see highs climb into the mid 80s tomorrow. This warming trend will continue into the work week with Monday and Tuesday being the hottest days this week before a mild cool front arrives and knocks temperatures back down just a bit. The forecast for Super Bowl Sunday looks pleasant with only minimal chances of seeing a few showers across east and southeast Texas.

Looking ahead…not really seeing anything significant in the long range outlook.  No snow, no ice and not feeling very much like Winter through at least the middle of the month.  Not that there’s any scientific merit to my next statement, but when I see an extended warm and dry pattern like this, I always get an unseasy feeling that we’ll be paying for it a bit further down the road.  We’ll see!
