Drying Out Over Labor Day Weekend!

The forecast for Labor Day Weekend 2016 calls for less rain, just a little more heat and hopefully lots of fun and relaxation for everyone. While chances for rain will not be completely out of the forecast, we will have a few days to dry out before seeing rain chances return later next week. A weak frontal boundary pushed through north Texas earlier today and is expected to wash out across central Texas by tomorrow. We’ll see rain chances diminish through the overnight hours tonight, with the best chances for isolated to scattered showers continuing along the leading edge of the frontal boundary as it continues to edge south, and across parts of west and west central Texas. Drier air will infiltrate parts of east and northeast Texas tomorrow which will leave this region of the state rain-free. Best chances for rain tomorrow will reside along and west of the frontal boundary where higher moisture will continue to stream across west and west central Texas. Storm coverage tomorrow is expected to be isolated to scattered…less than what we’ve seen the past couple of days with no severe weather expected.

As mentioned above, the forecast for your Labor Day weekend will be much more conducive to outdoor activities, especially on Sunday where most of the state will be under the influence of higher atmospheric pressure. The ridge will be relatively weak and will shift around a bit, and some moisture will still be in place to generate a few scattered showers and storms during the afternoon, but it won’t be enough to dampen most weekend activities. Highs each day will be near near normal and pretty much what we usually see for early September!
