A little Winter mischief on Thursday and Friday? Maybe.

Good Morning Y’all! Crashy the cold front will begin arriving in Texas tomorrow. The front will make steady progress south tomorrow and into Thursday. Expect gusty north winds and an end to the ‘spring-like’ weather we’ll be enjoying today. Unlike the last cold front, our upcoming colder weather will stick around through the end of the week.

Timing of a cold front pushing south through Texas tomorrow and Thursday.

You may have heard a little chatter about winter weather potential on Thursday and Friday. There is some potential for light winter precipitation (freezing rain, sleet) in portions of the Hill Country, South Texas, and Southeast Texas during the Thursday-Friday timeframe. As of this posting, confidence in any solution is too low to go ‘all out’ for a detailed forecast. There may be some light snow across the Texas Panhandle on Thursday. What does look fairly clear – if you pardon the pun – is folks from the Permian Basin through Northeast Texas should remain dry.

Regardless, we’re not looking at a multi-inch ice or snow situation. If we had some winter mischief, it could be focused on Central Texas/South-Central Texas Thursday morning. Friday morning,  perhaps South Texas, the Coastal Bend, and parts of Southeast Texas *IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AT ALL*. Temperatures should rise above freezing by Friday afternoon. Let’s be clear – this is not a repeat of last February in terms of how cold it will get or in terms of winter mischief potential.

We’ll get more into the data today and have a more detailed discussion this evening.
