Texas Weather Nowcast [January 22, 2024 1:25AM]

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are underway across Central Texas, South-Central Texas, southeast into the Coastal Bend. Scattered showers are also underway in Southeast Texas. This activity is moving northeast and will continue through the morning. Additional development is expected, and it’ll be a wet day across the eastern half of Texas. Heavy rainfall may result in localized flash flooding, with a flash flood warning in effect for the San Antonio Metro.

Further north in Texoma, North Texas, and the Ark-La-Tex, light rain is underway. Where surface temperatures are below freezing, generally north of a line from Bowie to Valley View to McKinney to Clarksville, light ice accumulations have resulted in slick bridges, overpasses, and some surface roads. Additional light ice is possible for the next few hours. Surface temperatures should climb above freezing by sunrise, allowing for ‘all rain’ and rapid improvements in travel conditions. Most of the D/FW Metroplex remains safely above freezing, though a slick bridge or overpass can’t be ruled out.
