Texas’ Friday Weather: Say Goodbye To Rain And Hello To Sunshine!

Scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder continue across Northeast Texas this morning. We’ll say goodbye to the rain by early afternoon. Partly cloudy to mostly clear skies are expected this afternoon through this evening across the majority of Texas. Upper-level clouds will stream into the state on Saturday, but dry weather will continue until Sunday.

Gusty south winds are a good bet on Sunday as an intense upper-level storm system arrives in the Plains of the United States. A blizzard is expected on Sunday and Monday across parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and Nebraska. On the warmer side? Thunderstorms. Isolated thunderstorms may occur Sunday afternoon in the Concho Valley, Big Country, and Northwest Texas. The higher chance for storms on Sunday looks to be east of the dryline in Oklahoma and Kansas. Some severe weather threat is expected, but if we don’t have storms in Texas, we won’t have to deal with that.

Our thunderstorm chances could increase late Sunday into Monday and Tuesday as a cool front sags south into the state. The severe thunderstorm threat is more uncertain early next week, but given the time of year, a low threat of gusty winds and hail is possible. We’ll refine the specific threat hazards for Monday as we get into the weekend. Cooler temperatures will arrive in the northern half of Texas by Tuesday. Enjoy the nice weather as we continue into this afternoon and Saturday!

Friday afternoon and Saturday will feature mostly dry weather across Texas. A great early-spring weekend ahead! Sunday could be a little less kind with gusty winds and a bit of active weather. If we’re lucky, thunderstorm chances will hold off until late Sunday and Monday! ~David
