High temperatures will generally be in the 60s and 70s over the next two days. Upper 50s are probable on Wednesday in the Ark-La-Tex as cooler weather invades the Mid-South, but mostly misses us. A more pronounced warming trend begins on Thursday with high temperatures in the 60s, 70s, and 80s – especially on Friday with gusty winds.

Five day rainfall forecast for Texas, with the threat of one-tenth to one inch of rain across the eastern third of Texas Friday night and on Saturday - from Bonham to College Station to Houston, eastward.

A storm system will take shape Friday afternoon into Friday night, with a surface low pressure moving from Northwest Texas/western Oklahoma northeast toward the Midwestern United States. As that process occurs, scattered thunderstorm chances increase for the eastern third of Texas Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. There may be a risk for strong to perhaps severe storms, but as the last two weeks have shown, those severe storm threats are far from guaranteed. It’s something worth watching.

High temperature graphic for Saturday across Texas as a cold front brings much cooler conditions and gusty north winds to the northwestern half of Texas. Falling temperatures are likely for the southeastern half of Texas during the day Saturday as the cold front arrives.

We may also see a round of light snow in the Panhandle Friday night and Saturday, but only minor snow accumulations (if any) are currently projected. A return to December weather will occur on Saturday and Sunday as a strong cold front moves southeast across Texas.

Why is most of the rain only in East Texas? Is it how the Gulf Stream flows? Central Texas is an inch away from becoming a desert like Odesa
