Winter precipitation finally starting to decrease, but impacts will continue into Friday

We’re finally starting to see winter precipitation decrease in coverage (a lot later than I thought it would) across Hill Country, southern and eastern North Texas. Temperatures stay below freezing tonight, so little melting is expected. Roads that are slick and hazardous now will probably stay that way through Friday morning if they’re not treated. No freezing precipitation is forecast in DFW tonight or for most of Friday. We *may* see freezing drizzle return to the picture Friday Night, but we’ll deal with that tomorrow. A major winter storm will bring historic cold and widespread, severe impacts to Texas’s northern two-thirds on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. We’ll talk MUCH more about that in the coming days. Today’s winter weather is winding down, but we’re just getting started with the winter mischief and cold. You can always keep tabs on ongoing weather with our weather radar located here.
