Weekend Weather Roundup – Astronomical Spring Arrived This Morning at 4:37am CDT

Good morning and happy Saturday everyone!  Gorgeous weather is on tap this weekend with plenty of sunshine, low humidity and mild temperatures.  The vernal equinox arrived at 4:37am CDT this morning so we have now officially entered Astronomical Spring!  It will be a great weekend to get outside and enjoy the nice weather and sunshine with seasonal highs today in the 60s to mid 70s.  Tomorrow,  we’ll warm up a few degrees with temps ranging from the upper 60s to upper 70s and may even see a few locations reach above 80 degrees in parts of far western Texas and down across the Rio Grande Valley region.  Humidity levels will be quite low, but we’ll see those levels begin to rise by tomorrow ahead of our next rain-maker.  More on that further down the page.  At any rate, it’s nice to see Spring arrive with Spring-like temps which is not always something we have in Texas with our whacky weather!

Overnight Lows Tonight and Sunday Night

For the work week ahead, it looks like we’ll have a few chances to see widespread rain and storms mainly for north, central, east and southeast portions of the state as a couple of disturbances arrive.  These will not  be drought-busting rains, but enough to give the plants a drink.  A few thunderstorms could pop up in the mix, but at this time, widespread severe weather does not look likely.  The rain chances should begin developing by mid-day on Monday across parts of north Texas ahead of a weak cold front.  Chances will increase overnight across North and East Texas and then shift south through Tuesday as the front makes its way towards the coast.  Wednesday, additional rainfall chances arrive with the second disturbance, but should clear out by Thursday.  Still a bit too soon to know the exact details, but we will continue to monitor and keep you up to date on the developments.  Unfortunately, not everyone will see beneficial rains from this next system.  Most of the rain will fall east of the I-35 and I-45 corridors which leaves drought-stricken parts of western Texas still waiting for their chance of beneficial rainfall.
