Your Weekend Texas Weather Forecast!

As fall often does in Texas we’re going to be dealing with two seasons spread out over the state. North of a now stationary front temperatures have fallen into the 40s and 50s overnight. South of the front temperatures are warm and conditions are humid. While I personally don’t get a choice of climate since I’m laying in a hospital bed – I would prefer the fall weather. (Personal note – I had issues with ulcers earlier this week. I hope to be released today or tomorrow. All is well!) At least I can simulate fall with the air conditioning!

Temperatures this afternoon will top out in the 70s in the Panhandle, West Texas, south into the Hill Country, North Texas, and Northeast Texas. Moisture values are also quite low so it’ll be a great day to be outdoors. Temperatures south of the front in Southeast Texas, the Brazos Valley, South-Central Texas, into the Rio Grande Valley will be higher with middle 80s to middle 90s. The middle 90s will be confined to the Rio Grande Valley where fall weather fans are likely to throw things at me. Rain chances will be confined to the Borderland and around El Paso.

Fall weather fans will enjoy tonight as temperatures quickly fall off after sunset. The combination of a dry airmass and at least partly cloudy skies should help produce efficient radiational cooling. Houston is forecast to get down to 59 – an arctic outbreak for those parts in October – with upper 40s in North and Northeast Texas. Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley will drop into the 60s tonight with some fog.

Similar temperature conditions are anticipated during the day Sunday. Highs should range from the lower 70s to the lower 90s. Hottest in the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas with the cooler conditions in West Texas. We will have the opportunity for isolated to scattered showers/storms tomorrow in the Texas Panhandle, West Texas, and the Borderland. Severe weather is not anticipated and a majority will remain dry.

Mostly quiet weather is expected this week. Temperatures will rebound and return to or just above average for early October. We may see another cool front push south on Thursday-Friday. There are signs that above-average temperatures could occur in the 7-10 day timeframe – so we’re probably not done with the 90s just yet.
