Tornado Watch Issued for Northeast Texas until 8 AM

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a tornado watch for eastern North Texas and Northeast Texas through 8 AM. This watch is to ‘cover’ the low-end chance for a few brief tornadoes this morning. I don’t anticipate numerous severe storms or a big-time issue with tornadoes. That being said, there is plenty of low-level wind shear. Very isolated damaging wind gusts and small hail are also possible. Most storms are not going to be producing damaging winds, hail, or tornadoes. Most storms, however, will produce heavy rain and frequent cloud to ground lightning.
