Texas Pre-Christmas Forecast: Rain with a chance of Mistletoe

Five days until Christmas! Those of you hoping for a White Christmas in Texas will be disappointed (again). On the bright side, it won’t be blustery and colder than the dickens like this time last year. Clouds will hold on tough across Texas today as the first of two upper-level storm systems approaches from the west. Temperatures across Texas will remain above average through Sunday, with high temperatures in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and even a few 80s.

Storm System #1

Scattered showers will move into the Borderland (Far West Texas around El Paso) late this evening. Those rain chances will spread into the western half of Texas tomorrow morning into tomorrow afternoon. Thursday night through Friday night will feature isolated to scattered showers across the eastern half of Texas. Most of the rain will be on the light to moderate side. Showers will move east of Texas by Friday evening as the first upper-level storm system departs.

Storm System #2

The second, more robust upper-level storm system will push into Far West Texas late Friday, bringing showers and thunderstorms. Friday night through Saturday afternoon will feature the highest rain chances in the western half of Texas, with perhaps some activity in Southeast Texas.
Regardless, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning in the eastern half of Texas. We can’t rule out a few stronger storms with small hail and gusty winds. Heavy rain will also be more likely with this second storm system. Timing may still shift, but most activity will push east of Texas by Sunday evening.

Forecast rain amounts across Texas from tonight through Sunday night. Heaviest totals (one to three inches) across the eastern third of Texas. The eastern two-thirds of Texas may see at least one-tenth of an inch of rain.

Forecast Texas Rain Totals over the next five days.

Christmas Day Forecast

There is a low probability, but we may see light rain/snow showers in the Panhandle on Sunday afternoon. Winter accumulations are not expected.
As it stands, Christmas Day looks dry across Texas with a cold front moving southeast across the state. The southeastern half of Texas will have a warmer Christmas with high temperatures in the 60s and 70s. The northwestern half of Texas will have an earlier arrival of the cold front, with temperatures topping out in the 40s and 50s. Tuesday looks cooler across Texas as the cold front makes it through the entire state.

I expect miracles! What can you do for the western 2/3 of Texas? Share the rain, please.

    • RoseandJohn Everett

Len E West They can chemtrail it like they did yesterday to seed the clouds here in my area. It worked when they did it last week here. Seeded on Tues and got rain on Friday and Saturday. I’m expecting a good rain this week too now due to the cloud seeding yesterday. Who cares if it is natural or not. Rain is rain.
