Saying Goodbye to 2023 With Pleasant Weather in Texas

We’re down to the final stretch of 2023! Mother Nature could have been mean and chosen to give us a real doozy to end the year. However, we’re in for a pleasant, calm stretch of weather to ring out the year. Over the next several days, our main weather story will be cooler temperatures filtering into Texas, followed by a big warmup on Saturday. New Year’s Eve will feature another cold front, with the chance for isolated light showers for a few folks.

High temperatures over the next several days will generally fluctuate between the 40s, 50s, and 60s across Texas. The warmest weather will remain confined to the southern third of Texas today. As we get toward Friday, we’ll see the coolest weather concentrate across the northeastern half of Texas, with a warm-up across the western half of Texas.

Saturday's high temperature forecast for Texas; with 50s and 60s.

High temperatures on Saturday will generally be the warmest we see this week. 60s and 70s will be widespread, with 50s sticking in the Panhandle and Far Northeast Texas. On New Year’s Eve (Sunday), we’ll see our next cold front push southeast into Texas. The exact timing of the cold front will be determined over the coming days. For most of Texas, we’d expect northwest winds with temperatures in the 30s, 40s, and 50s by Sunday evening. Isolated, light showers may occur in Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas. However, forecast rain totals look very light – so even if we have the occasional sprinkle or light shower, it doesn’t seem to be a washout situation.
