Gorgeous Fall Day Ahead!

I’m sure at least a few folks had to turn the heat on this morning for the first time this fall with widespread freezing temps showing up on the surface map this morning.  We do have a gorgeous fall day ahead with temps warming up into the 50s and 60s across the state with plenty of sunshine.  The big weather news for today will be the potential for freezing temps across much of the area overnight into early Sunday.  Freeze Warnings are in place for nearly all of north and northeast Texas, western north Texas and parts of central, southwest and west Texas as well.  Frost will also be likely, especially for urban areas which may not actually drop down to 32, but will come pretty darn close.  Make sure any sensitive plants are covered or brought indoors overnight.

With high pressure settled in over the state, we’ll see plenty of sunshine and very pleasant temps today.  Winds will be light and it looks to be a great day for holiday week travel or just enjoying the great outdoors. Lows tonight…warmer across the panhandle than we saw this morning, but this area will still be dealing with widespread freezing conditions.  Urban areas should stay just above freezing, but rural areas will drop to at or below freezing well down into south central Texas.  It’s like we went from Summer to Winter just like that!  Gotta love Texas weather!
