Sky conditions will be partly cloudy across the Texas Panhandle, West Texas, and Far West Texas today. The remainder of Texas will see mostly clear to partly cloudy skies today. Skies across Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas will clear from west to east this afternoon and a cool front pushes east. Temperatures won’t really drop but the front will help clear out the rain and clouds today. Temperatures will be above average this afternoon across the entire state. High temperatures will range from the upper 50s in the Panhandle to nearly 90 degrees in the Rio Grande Valley. The Hill Country, Central Texas, North Texas, and East Texas will top out in the mid and upper 70s. South-Central and Southeast Texas will top out in the low 80s – including San Antonio, Austin, and Houston. Corpus Christi and Laredo will top out around 86 degrees today with Brownsville and McAllen just under 90. Temperatures tonight will drop back into the 30s in the Panhandle, 40s from the Permian Basin through North Texas, 50s across Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Central Texas. We’ll bottom out in the 60s across South Texas, the Rio Grande Valley, and Coastal Plains. Christmas Eve will feature unseasonably warm weather as well as Christmas Day. Our weather will change on Christmas Day with increasing shower/storm chances Christmas Night. A very powerful storm system will bring severe weather, flooding, and a crippling blizzard to Texas this weekend. That topic itself requires a dedicated blog post which we’ll post later today.
