Tranquil Weather for the Foreseeable Future

This will be a quick weather forecast since we don’t have much to talk about for the first time in a couple of weeks. Some locations are experiencing fog this morning but that should burn off by mid-morning. Temperatures this afternoon will finally warm back up into the mid and upper 60s across the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, the Coastal Plains, and most of Southeast Texas. Temperatures will be the coolest along the Red River in Texoma with low to mid 50s expected. Everyone else will see a mix of upper 50s to low 60s for afternoon high temperatures. Any remaining clouds over Southeast Texas and South Texas will clear out by this afternoon leaving clear skies for all of Texas. Clear skies and a dry airmass will allow temperatures to quickly drop tonight. Another cold night with lows in the 20s are forecast across the Panhandle, higher elevations of the South Plains, into the Permian Basin. Locations including Central Texas, North Texas, Northeast Texas, and East Texas will drop into the 30s. Tonight will be the kind of night where temperatures can vary quite a bit based on local topography. Even in Southeast Texas and South Texas temperatures will drop into the upper 30s and low 40s. We can expect similar weather conditions with warm afternoons and cold nights for the rest of the week. The Saturday storm system continues to look weaker and thus not much precipitation is expected. The next 5+ days look dry with no major arctic air intrusions or widespread precipitation events on the horizon. Goodness knows we deserve a period of quiet weather.
