Texas Weather Will Soon Get Even MORE Active. Winter Mischief Coming!

It’s hump day, y’all. And boy I’ll tell you, we have increasingly active weather coming to #Texas on the back end of the week and next week. Two #Winter storm systems will impact the state by the time we get to our next hump day. And yes, the four-letter ‘S’ word will be featured: #Snow

It was a pretty wet Tuesday for many in Northwest to Central to East Texas. Clouds, mist and fog will linger throughout the day today across the central third of Texas. Western Texas, as well as far east Texas, will get away with a good dose of sunshine by Wednesday afternoon. Another storm system comes through the state tomorrow through Friday with more wet weather for Northwest, North Central, and East Texas. Thunderstorms in Southeast Texas will remain weaker in nature. Sorry Southwest and South Texas, not as much if any at all for you. But up north? Temperatures have trended colder on some new model data. This allows for a changeover to snow and even accumulating snow potential by late Thursday in the Panhandle (mainly N & W portion of the Panhandle). This should amount to 1-4 inches of snow wherever banding can get established on the colder side of the 32-degree F line. Snow and sleet covered roads will make for hazardous travel in the Panhandle and potentially the Amarillo area tomorrow.

The situation gets even more serious for the Panhandle and more on Monday to Tuesday next week (January 8/9) if the ongoing model agreement becomes true. This predicted winter storm system looks to be a doozy in comparison to tomorrow’s system. We have to get through tomorrow first, and then I can most accurately fine-tune the timing/placement/magnitude of this “dooziest” of systems. It is still far enough out for things to change within the forecast. However, it certainly looks more impressive than what we are used to seeing in Texas. Storms and winter weather may both get pretty dang grumpy. Stay tuned. Mama Nature and El Niño are kicking into gear!

No complaints here we need the rain bad and cause it’s these soaker types it’s much better for our environment instead of flooding rains… momma nature and El Niño needs to bring us some more… I see that part of the ark la Tex mostly close to the Texarkana area may get some wintry luck to bad the rest of East Texas(Marshall) won’t 😢

    • @TexasWeatherCenter

      We do need rain!!
