Scattered Showers on Friday in South-Central Texas

A quick moving storm system will bring a chance of showers to Southwest Texas, South-Central Texas, and the Middle Texas coast late tonight and on Friday. A couple of storms are also possible, but they aren’t expected to get anywhere close to severe limits. A quick turnaround to southerly winds has helped bring moisture back inland today across South Texas. That increased moisture, while fairly modest in depth, will bring a chance of precipitation tomorrow. It won’t rain all day and for most folks the rain will be on the lighter side of the spectrum. Most showers will be ending by late Friday afternoon. A few showers may even make it into the Concho Valley and Central Texas tomorrow, but the chance of getting impacted by one is around one in four.

Precipitation amounts should remain light with most folks receiving under half an inch of rain. A spot or two could pick up closer to three-quarters of an inch of rain, but that’s dependent on if we see any storms pop up. Tomorrow’s event will be low-impact. Most of Saturday into Sunday look dry, but rain/storm chances quickly increase Sunday Night, Monday, into the first half of Tuesday. That’s the timeframe where we’ll have to be vigilant for heavy rain and potential strong to severe storms.
