Happy Thanksgiving! Showers Tomorrow; Severe Storms Possible Monday

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re able to spend the day with your friends or family, eating some good food and watching football! If you happen to be working I hope your company at least has some good catering waiting for you. Either way I hope you have a god day. In terms of the weather forecast we’re not looking at anything overly threatening until the early part of next week. Today’s weather will generally be good after fog through mid-morning. Increasing clouds by the afternoon hours in parts of the state. Showers and a few storms will be possible late tonight and on Friday in the Concho Valley, Southwest Texas, South Texas, and Middle Coast. Widespread precipitation isn’t likely, but some folks will get up to half an inch of rain. No big temperature swings through the weekend, but we will see a weak cool front on Friday and another front on Monday/Tuesday.

The storm system that will arrive on Monday into Monday Night is going to be a doozy. A powerful upper level trough will rotate through the region. A cool front will push south and we’ll have a decent chance of showers and storms. No big reinforcing shot of cold air is expected with Monday’s front, but we are going to have to watch for the potential of severe storms. Right now the Storm Prediction Center has placed East Texas and Southeast Texas in a risk for Monday/Monday Night. Plenty of questions remain and we have several days to go before we can get more specific on any one hazard or timing. Heavy rain is an increasing risk in Northeast Texas on Monday into Tuesday.

Have a great Holiday weekend and enjoy it! I apologize for the rather short blog but I’ve got to get packing and on my way. Quiet weather means even the weather-folks get to enjoy the holiday!
