Warmest Day of the Week Today; Cool Front Arrives Tonight

2016-09-28_5-46-37

It certainly is nice not to wake up with dewpoints in the 70s with the atrocious summer humidity. What can I say I’m a fall fan! Anyway you’re not here to read about my personal favorite season so lets get to it. Hazardous weather is not expected for the next several days although we note that may change by Tuesday of next week.

High temperatures will be several degrees warmer this afternoon with topping out in the middle 80s to lower 90s. Humidity values will be on the lower side of the spectrum. The only region in Texas with rain chances today will be in the Rio Grande Valley with scattered storms. Outside of the RGV the remainder of Texas should remain dry today. Skies will remain clear to partly cloudy. Mostly cloudy skies are probable in the Borderland and in Southwest Texas.

Low temperatures tonight will be comfortable as a cool front starts to make its way south. This front will bring a reinforcing shot of cooler air into the state for Thursday. High temperatures tomorrow will be around ten degrees cooler north of the cool front with 70s common under sunny skies. Upper 80s to lower 90s are expected in South Texas where the front will move through Thursday evening. Friday will be cooler for Southeast Texas, South Texas, and the Rio Grande Valley.

Our weather should remain quiet through the weekend but changes arrive by early next week. A strong upper level storm system will dig into the western United States by Monday. As it starts to move east on Tuesday we’ll see moisture advect northward with an increase in humidity values. Beyond that we’ll have to wait for more consistency in the extended range model-land. Some storms could certainly occur as a dryline sets up on Tuesday and Wednesday. Something to keep an eye on, but still way out there. Until then we’ll have pleasant weather. Enjoy it!
