Seabreeze Showers and Slightly Less Hot Today

071716_TxMap

The most excitement we’ll get in the weather department today is the possibility of afternoon sea-breeze showers and storms in Southeast Texas. Scatterded showers and storms are expected during peak-heating today in Southeast Texas and on all coastal areas as the sea breeze moves inland. The good news is if you end up under or near one of these showers temperatures should cool off into the 80s. The bad news is lightning is a good bet with the stronger storms and the humidity will be oppressive for the remainder of the day. Otherwise a shower or two will be possible in Far West Texas east to Alpine today with reduced visibilities possible due to blowing dust near any activity. Temperatures this afternoon will be a few degrees lower than what we have seen this past week with highs peaking in the upper 90s to low 100s. Humidity values are starting to come down now that the heat ridge aloft is building and due to the lack of any widespread rains over the past few weeks. The lower humidity values mean it’ll be warmer this upcoming week but heat index values won’t get too out of hand – unless you live closer to the coast. Any activity that develops this afternoon will be out of the picture by this evening. Y’all have a great Sunday!
