Quiet Weather Week Ahead

Good morning and happy Sunday!  I hope everyone remembered to move their clocks ahead by one hour. If not, go do that right now!  Yesterday’s cold front has cleared the coast and rain has come to an end.  We will remain dry today and tonight with the exception of a very slight chance for a few showers to affect the north and northeast Texas tomorrow morning.  Beyond that, we are looking at fairly dry and uneventful weather for today and the work week ahead.

Highs today will be seasonal for parts of the panhandle and far western Texas, but cooler and remaining below normal elsewhere.  Clouds will be stubborn and hang around today across central and south Texas, but we should see some clearing this afternoon across parts of the panhandle, north and northeast Texas.  Another reinforcing shot of cold air arrives tonight as a second, weak, front moves across the region…but it won’t have much of an impact other than to just push some additional dry air into the northern half of the state.  Lows tonight will be fairly seasonal with nothing too extreme for this time of the year.

Looking ahead – Dry forecast for much of the week with our state under the influence of an upper high to our west and deep troughing to our east and really nothing major expected this week for us.  Rainfall chances remain bleak for the panhandle and the western half of the state.  Most of what you see on the rainfall outlook map below will fall within the next 24 hours, and beyond that, we’re dry pretty much everywhere.  Next week, we could begin to see a shift in the upper level pattern which may bring rain and storm chances back to parts of the state, but with that being so far out, there’s no guarantee.  A lot can change in the forecast models between now and then.  At any rate, we’ll be monitoring it and will keep you up to date as the forecast evolves.
