Overnight Forecast – Heavy Rain Tonight Across West/West Central TX

Yet another batch of heavy rain is developing and will spread into west and west central Texas overnight with the approach of another disturbance moving out of Mexico.  Flash Flood Watches are now in effect through tomorrow evening with anywhere between 1 and 3 inches of rainfall possible, with some locally higher amounts not out of the question.  Rainfall over the past week across west central Texas has already soaked the soils increasing the chance that runoff from heavy rain overnight and tomorrow will likely cause flash flooding issues across the area.  Embedded thunderstorms, some severe, will also pose a wind and large hail threat.   Screen Shot 2015-05-12 at 6.40.28 PM

Below is a short-range model forecast graphic depicting potential rainfall over the area through Noon tomorrow, plus a series of simulated radar graphics through Wednesday evening as the rain pushes into central and northern Texas where already saturated soil and overflowing lakes and rivers will cause additional flooding issues.   We’ll be keeping an eye on things, so stay tuned for additional updates tonight and early tomorrow.
