Near Record-High Temperatures & Wildfire Danger coming to Texas

Our weather radars remain rather lonely, with no precipitation to track across Texas over the next several days. That may change as we get into the second half of next week. Until then, we’re monitoring the wildfire danger and the possibility of near-record-high temperatures early next week.

No rain is expected this weekend in Texas. Allergies will continue to make many of us suffer, and some smoke from controlled burns won’t help the situation. High temperatures will remain above average for late February. That isn’t necessarily bad if you want to spend time outdoors. A dry airmass will allow for efficient cooling at night.’

Monday and Tuesday take us from the ‘this is nice’ weather category to the ‘Is this a summer preview?’ level. High temperatures will soar into the 80s and 90s across Texas. An unlucky community will probably find a way to get dangerously close to the triple-digit mark on Tuesday. Our wildfire danger will be very high to critical on both afternoons.

Things start to change as we get into Wednesday. A cold front will bring high temperatures back into the 40s and 50s across the northwest half of Texas. At least a low chance for rain will also exist Tuesday night and Wednesday across Texoma, Northeast Texas, into East Texas. We’ll deal with that once we get past this weekend.
