Marginal Risk of Severe Storms Tomorrow Across North Texas

fwd-tomorrow

A strong cold front sweeps through the state with chances for isolated to scattered storm development along with it tomorrow afternoon and evening across parts of north central and west central Texas.  The Storm Prediction Center has placed a portion of north Texas from around Sweetwater up through the DFW metroplex and up into the Paris Texas region under a Marginal Risk for severe storms tomorrow.  The main threats with any of the storms that develop along the frontal boundary tomorrow afternoon and evening will be nickle size hail and damaging wind gusts up to around 60mph.

As the front continues to push south across the state Wednesday night into Thursday, additional showers and storms remain possible out ahead of the front across central and south central Texas on Thursday. Severe weather on Thursday is not likely with mostly showers and some rumbles of thunder expected. Behind the front, gusty winds 20 to 25mph will be likely along with much cooler air. Rainfall amounts will be light with less than 1/4 inch expected for most; however a few will benefit from pockets of higher rainfall totals depending on where the heaviest showers and storms develop late tomorrow and again on Thursday.

As for temperatures over the next several days, we will be cooling off quite nicely which will be good news for those sick of the record breaking mid-October heatwave we’ve endured the past few days. For tomorrow, one more day of well above average highs for much of the state out ahead of the front, then we begin to really cool off on Thursday and into Friday with more seasonal highs and much less humid air behind the front. Taking a peek at the weekend ahead…it looks nice!  While temperatures will rebound back above average by a few degrees, less humidity will make it feel pleasant and more fall-like, especially in the early mornings with lows dropping down into the 40s and 50s.
