Flash Flood Warning: Archer, Baylor, Young Counties in North Texas

A flash flood warning is now in effect for Baylor, Archer, and Young counties in North Texas. Heavy thunderstorms have been backbuilding over the area for a few hours. Known as training there has been rain accumulations of 4 to 5 inches in the past few hours. Additional rain totals of 2 to 3 inches will be possible through 3 PM. Flash flooding is possible in Newcastle, Olney, Archer City, Windthorst, Megargel, Westover, Jean, and Loving. Highway 114, Highway 281, and Highway 380 are included and may be flooded at low-water crossings.

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Flash Flood Warning for: Southeastern Baylor County in northern Texas. Southern Archer County in northern Texas.

  • At 12:13 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing Heavy Rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Areas along and south of a Windthorst to Archer City and Westover line have received the heaviest amounts of rain this morning.
  • Some locations that will experience flooding include: Archer City, Windthorst, Megargel and Westover. Additional rainfall amounts of up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Flash Flood Warning for: Northern Young county in north central Texas.

  • Until 2:45 PM CDT.
  • At 11:37 AM CDT, The Public reported thunderstorms producing Heavy Rain across northern Young County. More than 4.5 inches of rain has fallen over the last couple of hours. This rainfall will lead to excessive water runoff and cause flash flooding. Low-lying areas are most vulnerable to rapidly rising water. Some Low-water crossings may flood and become impassable.
  • Some locations that will experience flooding include: Olney and Newcastle. Highway 79 near Olney. Highway 114 in northern Young County.
