Dense Fog By Morning; Arctic Front Arrives Wednesday

After a fairly good soaking across Texas the precipitation is coming to an end from west to east. For tonight we’ll see rain chances continue in portions of East and Northeast Texas. Additional precipitation totals will be light.FPatchy fog will be possible tonight into the morning hours Tuesday as skies clear and the wet grounds help fog formation. Don’t be surprised if parts of Texas wake up in a dense cloud tomorrow… yeah, I pulled out the fog is a cloud joke.

The next weather event we’re focusing on will start to arrive late Tuesday Night and quickly push south into Texas on Wednesday. A powerful, artic cold front will bring the coldest weather in nearly two years to the state. Temperatures this afternoon in parts of Alaska didn’t make it up 35 degrees below zero this afternoon. Current projections have the front blasting south through Texas at various times on Wednesday. Winds behind the front will be strong out of the north with frigid wind chills. Thursday looks to be the coldest day with high temperatures across Texas ranging from the upper 20s in the Texas Panhandle into the 40s along the coast and in South Texas. Northerly winds will result in downright frigid conditions on Wednesday and Thursday Morning. Low temperatures will likely drop into the teens, twenties, and thirties across Texas. The teens should make it as far south as the Concho Valley, Central Texas, and Northeast Texas.

With an arctic front on the way it is time to review a few cold weather tips. Make sure you have winterized any equipment that requires it. Wrap those pipes and leave the faucets dripping during the night. Bring your furry loved ones indoors and have appropriate winter clothing ready. Got any elderly or susceptible neighbors? Make sure they’re good to go during the cold weather. High temperatures will warm back up into the 40s and 50s on Friday with 60s on Saturday. No winter weather precipitation is anticipated with this cold snap. Sorry kids!
