Cold Tonight but Warming Up Tomorrow

With most of y’all watching the super bowl being played out in Arizona I elected to hold off on tonight’s forecast until the game ended. The weather out in Glendale, AZ is beautiful this evening with a comfortable temperature of 64 degrees fahrenheit with only some upper level cirrus present.

Skies will stay cloudy tonight across the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, and near the coast in Southeast Texas. The cloud cover will keep temperatures from falling too far tonight with 40s and 50s in South Texas with 30s closer to Interstate 10. We’ll also see some upper level clouds move into the Texas Panhandle and the South Plains before sunrise on Monday which may help keep temperatures a tad warmer than surrounding areas. With clear skies tonight across the Hill Country into Northwest, North, Central, and Northeast Texas temperatures will end up falling to or below freezing. Thankfully the truly arctic air will stay just north of our state where folks in Oklahoma will fall into the teens tonight.

We’ll start out chilly tomorrow morning but with dry air and clear skies temperatures will warm up quite nicely. Most folks will warm up into the 50s except for North and Northeast Texas where cold air advection will keep highs in the 40s. Winds will begin to come out of the south across the Panhandle, South Plains, into the Permian Basin by Monday afternoon with winds gusting in the 20-30 MPH range.

CORRECTION FOR RAIN CHANCES

South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley will see rain chances go up on Monday Night as moisture streams back inland and we get some lift in the atmosphere. Most folks will see less than 0.75″ of rain accumulation through Tuesday.
