High temperatures will once again climb into the mid 90s and 100s. Nearly all of Texas will see triple digit temperatures this afternoon. Those who end up falling just short will still experience heat index values over 100 degrees. The hottest weather is expected across North Texas, Northeast Texas, and in South Texas where heat index values of 105 to 109 degrees are anticipated. Actual air temperatures should climb to 101-106 degrees. I’ll spare you the heat safety tips today since I’m sure you’ve got them down. No rain should fall today and even the puffy clouds will be a rariety. Temperatures will fall back into the 70s to lower 80s for tonight. Heat index values will remain in the 80s to around 90 degrees for most of the overnight hours into your Saturday morning. Nearly identical weather is expected on Saturday with a continuation of the heat. The good news is we should see some relief by the middle half of next week as the heat dome shifts a bit west allowing for a weak northeasterly flow. That weak northeast flow should help bring temperatures back to normal and perhaps even allow a rouge shower or two.
