Chase Target 4/23/21: Quanah, TX

Heading out to Quanah at this time to chase a possible supercell (eventual bowing line of storms) this afternoon and evening. A dryline is punching east today (see surface analysis) with lots of forcing and high instability for a storm or two in the circled area. This/these will be capable of very large hail and perhaps a tornado. The threat will transition to a wind threat between 8-10pm as a bowing line of storms forms, moving across the volume of the northern “Enhanced Risk” into the evening. Any tornado threat should be on the brief and weaker side, and will be virtually over once Storm mode transitions into a line.

There is also a chance of hail and tornadoes across parts of Central to East Texas (see southern “Enhanced Risk”). This is not in favorable terrain for chasing, but we will watch this area for significant storm strengthening later today and keep everyone apprised. Take care and be safe! -JC
