Plenty of rain expected across Texas this weekend

It’s air-you-can-wear season, #Texas! At least with the high #humidity values, we’re also going to see the chance (if not likelihood) of #showers and #storms. It won’t rain at your location all the time this weekend, but many folks will be getting measurable precipitation at some point over the next few days.

Heavy #rain with the possibility of #flooding be the primary weather impact over the next several days. Not everyone will have to deal with heavy rain and flooding, but some folks have already had more rain than they can handle this month. Any additional rain will simply runoff and cause flooding issues. Street flooding rises on #creeks and #streams, and low-lying areas may all experience issues if you receive some rain quickly.

There is the possibility of a few severe storms this morning into this afternoon, especially from the Rio Grande Valley north through the Middle Texas Coast, Coastal Plains, into the southern Brazos Valley and Southeast Texas. Localized damaging #wind gusts, pocket-change size #hail, and a #tornado can’t be ruled out. Most storms today will behave themselves.

Rain chances will continue tonight into Sunday across the western eighty percent of Texas, and scattered showers and storms may be with us in Texas through much of the upcoming week. We’re looking at a summer-time tropical air mass versus a springtime severe thunderstorm maker, so widespread severe storms aren’t likely. However, stronger storms will produce deadly cloud-to-ground #lightning, gusty winds, small hail, and heavy rainfall on the order of 2 to 4 inches per hour (if it sits in one spot).
