Harvey strengthens into a Tropical Storm

This is a quick update to indicate that Harvey has become a tropical storm over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane hunters have found increased winds in Harvey, and maximum sustained winds are now near 40 MPH with higher gusts. Continued strengthening is forecast and Harvey could be approaching hurricane status by tomorrow night. Please see our detailed forecast update from 10 PM here.
