New tornado warning for southwestern Van Zandt county in North Texas until 815PM. A possible tornado is located near Purtis Creek State Park, or 7 miles northeast of Gun Barrel City. This storm is moving northeast at 15 MPH. Tundra and Canton are included in this tornado warning. It is my hope the tornadic circulation will remain south of Canton, but we’re not going to take any chances. Those in Tundra, Canton, and northeast of Mabank should move to a safe place. This storm is about 30-40 minutes away from impacting Canton.

* At 718 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over Purtis Creek State Park, or 7 miles northeast of
Gun Barrel City, moving northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 525 and 526.

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile
home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and
protect yourself from flying debris.
