Rapid Flash Flood Threat Developing from Conroe to Spring

A heavy thunderstorm has developed over Interstate 45 from Conroe south to Spring to Houston Intercontinental Airport. This storm has produced 1.28 inches of rain in 15 minutes at Interstate 45 and Spring Creek. We talked about areas that can’t handle much rain earlier and this area is one of them. Based on continued training of thunderstorms over the region and produced rainfall rates thus far there is the potential for this to rapidly escalate into a major flash flood event. Many roads may already be flooded or could be flooded rapidly. Creeks and streams will quickly jump their banks. Locations that may not usually flood could do so in this case. A dangerous situation may be developing for Spring.
