9:45pm Severe Weather Update – South Central TX

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on the strong to severe storms currently impacting parts of south central Texas.  At this time, extension of the current Severe Thunderstorm Watch across this region is not expected to be extended beyond 10:00pm.  Hail and gusty winds will remain the greatest threats with the stronger cells that continue to develop and drift south ahead of the cold front, but the overall threat for widespread severe weather is decreasing as we continue to lose daytime heating and we see the storms beginning to weaken a bit.  Most of the storm activity remaining overnight is expected to clear the coast between 3am and 5am tomorrow morning.  Gusty winds between 20-25mph will follow behind the front with much cooler conditions expected tomorrow.  Remember, you can track the storms tonight via our live interactive radar at texasstormchasers.com/radar.
