Clear skies and increasing south winds will be the noteworthy highlights with today’s weather forecast. Temperatures this afternoon will climb into the low 70s across the Rio Grande Valley. The cooler side of the spectrum will be in Northeast Texas with upper 50s this afternoon. Most locations across Texas will make it into the upper 50s to low 60s this afternoon. South winds will become gusty this afternoon in the Texas Panhandle. A few weakened trees may come down this afternoon where the ice storm impacts were most severe last week. Temperatures tonight will fall back into the 30s to right around 40 degrees for nearly all of Texas. Parts of the Panhandle will fall into the upper 20s with the Rio Grande Valley in the mid to upper 40s under clear skies. Tranquil weather is expected to continue for the next week with no major weather systems anticipated. Enjoy it while it lasts because the weather pattern should become more active after next weekend.
