July 19 Texas Weather Roundup | Storms return to the Panhandle + More Heat

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening in the Texas Panhandle and West Texas. Some of the storms may be severe with large hail and damaging straight line winds. Widespread severe weather is not expected today but with the heat in place we could certainly see a few more potent updrafts. Numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue tonight in the Texas Panhandle. The severe weather threat will diminish by late evening. A few lucky folks could receive up to 1.5 inches of rain tonight.

Outside of the Panhandle another dry and hot day is expected in Texas. Temperatures this afternoon will climb into the upper 90s to lower 100s. Heat index temperatures will climb into the mid 100s today. Obviously this type of heat is hazardous to those without air conditioning and the elderly. For tonight temperatures will drop into the mid 60s in the Panhandle – almost worth a drive for a little heat relief for me. Everyone else will drop into the 70s. The urban centers will slowly fall into the upper 70s so not much relief from the heat. Much of the same can be expected on Tuesday.
