Today’s was the summer solstice…the first day of astronomical Summer for the northern hemisphere. This is when the sun reaches the highest point in the sky relative to the equator, and is the longest day of the year. How long was your day? Being that Texas covers a large amount of real estate latitudinally, there is a little more than 45 minutes difference in daylight between the southern and northern regions of the state!

For tomorrow, much like today, temps will be near normal for this time of the year across much of the state. Rain will be scarce and relegated to coastal and southeast Texas. High pressure will once again build across the state beginning Wednesday and we’ll see temps creeping up into the upper 90s to 100 by later this week, and rainfall will continue to be scarce. A cold front will try and make a run at the northern panhandle late Wednesday, but the Gandalf ridge will not let it pass.  A stronger front may have better luck over the weekend, but that’s still pretty far out in the forecast period.  All in all, I believe we have finally reached…………the summer doldrums.
