Flooding becoming the Primary Hazard

2015-05-20_1-32-41

* The severe weather threat continues to diminish this morning. While I can’t rule out a few stronger storms with gusty winds the primary issue will now be heavy rain/flash flooding.

* A west to east oriented band of thunderstorms and very heavy rain extends from Seymour to Archer City to Bowie. These storms are moving east with a bit of a southward component. As they continue to move east towards Interstate 35 they will likely bring flooding. Portions of Northwest Texas received several inches of rain in a 1-2 hour period.

* With flooding already a big concern over Cooke/Montague counties these storms certainly have the potential to create big problems this morning. If we end up seeing very heavy rainfall rates it will only take minutes for small streams and trouble spots to rapidly flood.
