Flash Flood Watches Posted

2015-05-22_16-43-35

As expected we now have Flash Flood Watches for a large chunk of Texas for tonight through the weekend. Not everyone is going to see enough rain to cause flooding nor will everyone see enough rain to fill their lakes. One concern for this weekend’s storms is that we have extremely high moisture content in place. The atmosphere is going to have moisture in the 99th percentile for this time of year. That means storms will produce very heavy rain and possibly significant accumulations in a short period of time.

The Red River Valley in Northwest Texas and locations north and northwest of the D/FW Metroplex have the potential to experience significant/high-end flooding issues this weekend due to previous rain accumulations. Flash flooding will be a concern this weekend but river and lake flooding will continue to be concerns well into next week. The heaviest rain in those locations is expected Saturday Night through Sunday Night.
