7:25 AM | Snow Ending in North Texas by 9 AM

image_full8

Light to locally moderate snow continues to fall over northern sections of the D/FW Metroplex north to the Red River. This snow is occuring on the back edge of a departing upper-level low. The low is moving northeast quickly and precipitation is coming to an end in North Texas. Current projections have all remaining snow/rain concluding by 9 AM. Snow accumulations where temperatures are below freezing west of Interstate 35W are resulting in slick roadways. That wet-slushy snow will melt off roads a few hours after sunrise. In the D/FW Metroplex itself temperatures remain above freezing. Any light snow accumulations are concentrated on grassy and elevated surfaces.

Now that snow has ended across Texas road crews will be able to start getting an upper hand. It will take time for roads to improve in the hardest hit areas. Travel remains discouraged until at least noon on primary roadways. Secondary roads will likely remain nearly impassable across the ‘blizzard’ zones through the day.
