TS Eta • Update 11/9

Yesterday TS Eta made landfall in the Keys with winds of 65mph. Some sporadic damage was reported in the northern Keys and around Homestead, FL. Flooding from the persistent rain bands occurred across the area into the Miami metro. Much too far for us to travel down and document Eta.

The forecast maintains Eta as a Tropical Storm in the Gulf this week. The projected track has Eta making a sharp turn toward the north tomorrow, ultimately making it to Florida’s Big Bend region by the weekend for a second US landfall. Eta is the little storm that won’t quit.

A new wave in the Atlantic might be named “Theta” in the next several days. This won’t affect us. NHC is also watching the Caribbean Sea for possible tropical development in 5-10 days. If a storm develops here, it might be named “iota” and could raise concerns for Central America once again.
