Winter Storm Ends This Morning [Texas Weather Roundup for February 2, 2023]

Good Thursday morning! With nearly 400,000 customers without power this morning, I’m happy to share that we’re in the final hours of our multi-day winter storm in Texas. Freezing rain does continue to fall across portions of West Texas, east into the Hill Country, North Texas, and Texoma. This activity will continue progressing to the east/northeast this morning. By 10 AM, we anticipate temperatures will rise above freezing across many parts of Texas, and we should all get at least a few degrees this afternoon – though many will top out in the 40s. A little snow may occur this afternoon in West Texas and Northwest Texas, but we aren’t expecting it to amount to much. We will see the ice melt this afternoon, but we’ll need to be mindful of black ice Thursday night into Friday morning as temperatures fall below freezing. A big-time warm-up will occur this weekend into early next week – with above-average temperatures and pleasant weather expected.
