Plenty of Rain Chances for Texas Continue Today

Texas Storm Chasers Baldy-in-Chief David Reimer has your daily Texas Weather Forecast! We’ve got isolated to numerous showers and thunderstorms expected across the state throughout the day. We can thank a weak frontal boundary moving south of Interstate 20 this afternoon for some cooler weather and a summer-time rain setup. Stronger storms with damaging winds, hail, and flooding are expected.

However, this is *not* a spring-time severe weather or tornado situation. We don’t expect 100 MPH winds, cantaloupe-size hail, or a big-time tornado event. Lightning, heavy rain, and strong wind gusts are probable with stronger storms, but I’m hopefully keeping perspectives in scale. Rain chances will tend to lower after sunset with the loss of daytime heating, but more daytime storms are likely in Texas on Tuesday and Wednesday.

One-half to one and a half inches of rain are forecast across a majority of Texas over the next three days thanks to summer thunderstorm chances. The lowest rain chances will be around El Paso in Far West Texas, the northeastern Texas Panhandle, and the Ark-La-Tex in Northeast Texas.

Thanks to cloud cover and increased rain chances, comparative cooler temperatures are expected across the northeastern half of Texas this afternoon through Wednesday. High temperatures will be in the 70s and 80s, which beat the 90s and 100s across the southwestern half of Texas. As our rain chances shut off after mid-week, the entire state will return to summer-like weather by Friday and the upcoming weekend.
