Cold But Dry Christmas Holiday Weekend!

Good morning and happy Saturday to everyone!  In the wake of yesterday’s cold front, the rain has all moved east of our state and dry and cooler conditions have settled in.  Highs today will will reach the low to mid-60s across the western and southern portions of the state while central, north and eastern Texas will remain in the upper 40s to low 50s.  Not a bad forecast for being out and about!  In fact, the travel forecast this weekend looks fantastic across the entire state with no rain or winter weather impacts expected!  Lows tonight will be chilly but close to seasonal this time of the year with teens and 20s expected across the panhandle region overnight, 30s for north and central Texas, and mostly 40s further south along the coast.

Another cold front will blast through the state tomorrow, but unlike yesterday’s front, it will arrive dry.  Winds will be gusty behind it though, which will mean wind chills in the 20s with highs on Sunday…Christmas Eve Day…only reaching the upper 30s to low 50s across the northern half of the state.  The southern half of the state will see daytime highs on Christmas Eve reach the mid 60s to mid 70s down in the Valley before the front finally arrives.  Overnight lows for Santa’s long-awaited visit will be quite a bit cooler with lows in the teens and 20s across the panhandle, mid 20s to near freezing across western, north and central Texas…and we’ll see lows dropping down into the 40s along the coast and into deep south Texas. The forecast remains dry until we get into the middle of next week when chances for precipitation return. Right now, all the precip looks to be of the wet variety versus the wintry variety, but we’ll continue to keep an eye on that in case that changes!
