Sunday July 12th Weather Roundup

Good morning and happy Sunday!  If you love the summer heat, the forecast for today and the remainder of this week is just for you!  If heat isn’t your thing, might want to just find a patch of cool floor tiles to lay on for the next 7 days.  High pressure continues to build in over the state which will essentially leave us with mostly clear skies, hot temps and very few rain chances over the next week.

Afternoon highs will range from the low 90’s to just above 100 degrees this afternoon.  Heat index values will be highest in the eastern and southern portions of the state where humidity levels are still high. Houston, Corpus Christi and Laredo will see heat index values around 104 this afternoon.  Dallas, Waco and Austin will see heat index values right at 100.  Folks in the panhandle and western Texas where humidity levels are much lower won’t have to worry much about heat index.

As a reminder, the heat index values represent apparent temperature while in the shade.  In full sun, you can easily add about 10 degrees for what it really “feels like”.  That said, we continue to urge everyone to stay hydrated and try to get all the outdoor chores and such done before the heat of the day each afternoon.
